The Cat’s Meow: A Review of the New Cats Movie

The Cat’s Meow was supposed to be one of this summer’s big blockbusters, with several huge names (Ellen Degeneres, Antonio Banderas) and one of the hottest directors in Hollywood (Barry Sonnenfeld). But it bombed at the box office and received mixed reviews from critics. Is it that bad? Here’s what you need to know about this summer’s most disappointing flop.

Introduction

Ever since I was little, I have loved watching and reading about cats. Now that I’m a teenager, it’s no surprise that my love for cats has only grown stronger. Recently, a new movie was created by the same people who made The Secret Life of Pets. It was called The Cat’s Meow.
It followed Charlie Chaplin as he traveled to Hollywood to get his big break into Hollywood filmmaking.

The Good

Walking into the theater, we were excited and more than a little nervous. Would this movie be worth all the hype? The answer is yes. It exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, this movie has everything you could want in a family film – comedy, drama, romance, adventure, and so much more.
The cast was outstanding. Adding Jennifer Hudson and Taylor Swift to a movie already bursting with musical talents like Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, and James Corden is a masterstroke.

The Bad

Cats are not a good movie. It’s not even mediocre. I don’t know what this movie tried to do, but it failed miserably. The plot is almost nonexistent, the acting is terrible, and there are too many cats in the film. That last point might be my only positive review because I’m a cat lover, and they were cute, but they should have had a more significant role in the film instead of just being there for no reason.

The Ugly

Cats is a musical based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, a collection of poems by T.S. Eliot that tells the story of cats from Jellicle Town and their journey to find out which cat will be reborn as an eternal spirit known as the Jellicle Moon (and also about how cats are great).
The musical is directed by Tom Hooper, who was also responsible for Les Misérables and The King’s Speech.

Conclusion

Overall, The Cat’s Meow is a fun movie for cat lovers and those who want to learn more about it. It has its flaws, but it is a good family film. I recommend taking your family to watch it!
While it is fun to watch, some of its scenes are terrifying. I recommend watching it with your children and ensuring they know that no cats will chase them or eat them in their sleep. All in all, The Cats’ Meower is an excellent movie that appeals to both kids and adults
