Happy Hour and Sunset at Clearwater Beach
Clearwater Beach hosts sunset celebrations at Pier 60 that rivalMallory Square in the Keys. For two hours before sunset and two hours later, music, movies, street performers and craftsmen converge on Pier 60, creating a festive atmosphere we didn’t want to miss. We could have taken the Jolly Trolley for free, but we brought our bikes, so we stopped by Clearwater Pass to see the party side on the beach.
It was still a little early, so we broke into Jimmy’s rooftop bar on the edge for happy hour. We drank piña colada, ate snacks at a discount and let the stress of the week fade away. From our position at the top of the Edge Hotel, we saw the activity on Clearwater Pass. Dolphin tours at sunset found several pods hanging by the pier. There was even a diving charter with its diving flag anchored at the other end. We finished our drinks and headed to Pier 60 in search of more things to do in Clearwater.
The Acro Maniacs were the first act that caught our attention. They’re a team of Brooklyn concrete acrobats who perform without pads. They have been doing this act for 20 years and can still jump six young children at once, which tells me the dangers of my office job. After the end, we toured the craft stalls at Pier 60 until a storm hit. While our night was interrupted by the summer rains, there’s a lot of fun at Pier 60.
